Changing Places Toilets
Access to toilet facilities is a fundamental human right. Changing Places Toilets (CPT) are larger accessible toilets, with specialist equipment. They are designed to meet the needs of disabled people who need carer support and equipment to use the facilities. CPTs ensure people have their personal care needs met, fulfilling this basic human right for them.
Changing Places Toilets Fund
The Scottish Government will invest £10 million over 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 to increase the number of Changing Places Toilets. They are aiming to fund up to 150 additional Changing Places Toilets across Scotland.
The Changing Places Toilets Scotland Fund has launched and is now open for applications. Further information on the fund and Inspiring Scotland, who administer the fund on behalf of the Scottish Government, can be found here.

If you are applying to the fund, we encourage you to engage locally on your plans and explore the information and resources available on the PAMIS website.
The Changing Places Toilets planning guide (November 2022) provides information and guidance to those considering installing a CPT in both existing and new buildings.
How can we help you?
The CareSpaces team has been deeply involved in the design and delivery of Changing Places toilets for the past 2o years, and can offer you a great deal of experience and insight both in the planning and construction of a suitable facility, but also in the design and delivery of a toilet that will be a delight to navigate and use by the disabled community.
We can assist with ongoing maintenance of the equipment, training of staff, registration of the facility and assistance with marketing and the launch of your new toilet!
