On 21st May 2025, our CareConnect Conference was held in Wolverhampton; bringing together over 40 independent Occupational Therapists, Case Managers, Expert Witnesses, and suppliers for a day of insight, innovation, and community building.
Hosted by CareSpaces, this event delivered a tailored experience to empower independent professionals with practical knowledge and skills, new connections, and exposure to cutting-edge care solutions.
Community
CareConnect was intentionally a community-based event, not just a conference. Built around the idea of networking, talks that would enhance practice and client outcomes, the event focused on:
- Showcasing specialist equipment and adaptive solutions
- Offering hands-on demonstrations
- Providing insights from seasoned professionals to give practical business help from accountants and solicitors, offering CPD opportunities
- Encouraging meaningful networking among like-minded practitioners

The 2025 agenda featured a dynamic line-up of experts, each sharing their professional and experienced perspectives:
- Barbara Franks (Somek & Associates) opened the day with insights into the expert witness role and its challenges.
- David Balen (Balens Insurance) highlighted key considerations for professional insurance in independent practice.
- Dani Paige (SupportiveAction) shared her personal journey into independent work and the realities of moving and handling.
- Anava Baruch (Design for Independence) captivated attendees with a live case study exploring bespoke design solutions.

- Robin McNelis (Home Rehab Therapists) closed the expert talks with an in-depth look at respiratory management in complex neurological care.
Experiential Learning and Networking
The networking sessions offered a relaxed atmosphere for delegates to build meaningful professional relationships. The Exhibitors featured respected names like Pressalit, Geberit, OSKA, Wealden Rehab, Ropox, Irwin Mitchell, and Dorset Orthopaedics, among others.
These connections allowed participants to discover innovative equipment, discuss practice challenges, and foster partnerships, all within a supportive environment.
What delegates said:
“I had a great day: the venue was lovely, the speakers were really good and it was an excellent opportunity to chat to other OTs.”
“Such an insightful and great day.”
“Thank you for providing an event that OT’s can benefit from. I had to leave at 3:30 to avoid traffic going back to my home. The time to see stands and speak to them and other OT’s was helpful. It is supporting my CPD and contacts.”
