Anticipation builds in the disabled community as funding allocations are announced from the Changing Places Fund!
The Changing Places fund was first announced by the Chancellor on 11 March 2020.
In July 2021 the Changing Places Fund then formed part of the National Disability Strategy. The Strategy made a public commitment to make £30 million capital funding available over 3 years to unitary and district councils in England with the objective to increase both the number and geographic spread of Changing Places Toilets.
The CPF prospectus was then published in July 2021 inviting unitary and district authorities to submit an expression of interest, guaranteeing that local authories that submitted an eligible expression of interest would receive an offer of funding equivalent to the average cost of installing at least one Changing Places toilet in their area. The average cost of a Changing Places has been assumed at £40,000.

Following the outcome of the Round 1 assessment process the government has announced that 191 unitary and district councils have been allocated £23.5 million of funding, with a further round anticipated later in 2022.
