For this project, a young child needed a bedroom that kept him safe while meeting his sensory and behavioural needs.

He often struck out at the walls for sensory feedback, dropped to the floor with force, and found ways to open the window despite added locks, throwing objects outside. The space was no longer safe for him or practical for his family.

CareSpaces carried out three detailed site visits to understand how the child interacted with his environment and what his parent wanted the room to feel like.

Together, they developed a calm, personal design using colours that comforted him while avoiding tones that could cause distress.

The CareSpaces team designed and installed FORTRESS Protection, with full wall and floor padding, protective coverings for the window, and custom padded boxing around electrical sockets.

Every element was made to measure and managed in-house, from design and manufacture through to installation and handover.

The new environment offered a secure, reassuring space where the child could move freely and safely.

His parent could finally relax knowing the room was built to handle sensory behaviours without risk of harm or ongoing damage.

The padded system used a strong yet forgiving backing to add structure without making the surfaces hard.

A bespoke bed block replaced a standard bed frame, supported by full floor padding to protect against falls.

Window protection and socket coverings prevented tampering while maintaining a homely appearance.

CareSpaces handled the project from start to finish with care and precision. The result was a safe, comfortable bedroom designed around the child’s specific needs and a family who could enjoy a sense of peace again.
