At this property in Wokingham, an adult client with complex behavioural needs required a calm and secure environment.

The property included a small living space with a bedroom, bathroom, and lounge area, supported by round-the-clock care. The client often struck or kicked at the walls, which made both personal safety and property protection a concern.

CareSpaces carried out several site visits with the Occupational Therapist, site manager, and property team to agree on the right solution.

The focus was on what worked best for the client while meeting the landlord’s requirements for durability and compliance.

Together, they decided on our FORTRESS Protection, with wall padding to be installed at a custom height of 1200 millimetres throughout all rooms. Bespoke radiator padding was also added around upright radiators to remove any hard impact points.

During installation, the team faced practical challenges around how to fit padding neatly around built-in cabinets and a TV stand.

Builders, that were already on site, created custom boxing that avoided altering the property structure while ensuring full protection. This collaborative approach meant the result looked tidy and integrated, not clinical.

After installation, CareSpaces returned to carry out a post-fit check with the Occupational Therapist to make sure the solution met every safety and comfort requirement before the client moved in.

The finished rooms offered a calm, safe setting that supported both independence and peace of mind for the care team.

CareSpaces delivered a complete service from design and coordination through to manufacture and installation.

The outcome was a robust, comfortable environment that met the needs of everyone involved and made day-to-day living safer and easier.
