Care Spaces was proud to partner with Maclaren Group in the delivery of this Changing Places facility at the McArthurGlen retail outlet in Ashford, Kent.
McArthur Glen is the leading owner, developer and manager of designer outlets in Europe. Their Kent outlet in Ashford originally opened in 2000 and has just been expanded in a £90M investment.
Care Spaces was requested to assist with the design and layout of the room and provided scale drawings and elevations to the contractor. It soon became clear that whilst the provision had always been included within the employer’s requirements, the steel frame design had not taken into consideration the location of a Changing Places and thus there were no structural steel members above the room.
We revised our design to include a wall-post mounted hoist system which allowed the building construction to proceed without delay.
The GoLift hoist system was installed within a day, and the other ancillary items, including the Visit Couch, were all delivered into the room a few days before the handover.
Staff training has taken place and the expanded centre is now open to the public.
