The Range have been steadily adding new stores in many locations across the UK. This new store in Bishop Auckland (find it here) has a Changing Places toilet installed

The store is an all-new construction, and we worked with the store architect and the main contractor to finalise the layout of the room, and ensure that all the services were installed in the correct place during construction.

An installation of this type into what is essentially a commercial warehouse building is not necessarily straightforward. A lot of planning needs to go in before construction commences to identify structural properties and steel layouts, water and electrical service routes, fire suppression systems and escape routes, and drainage possibilities. Whilst having so much space on hand is often a benefit, in a retail setting floor space equates to revenue so being careful with the proposals is important.

The Changing Places toilet at this location is built using metal-stud partitioning, with extra strengthening and plywood pattressing inserted to enable the walls to take the loads imposed by the specialist equipment. A suspended ceiling is installed with inset LED lighting

Our installation took two days to complete, having carried out a pre-install survey a few days in advance. This initial survey is to doublecheck all dimensions and service provisions, and ensures that our team arrive the best prepared for the job.

The finished installation is a perfect example of value engineering – we prove that a fully-compliant Changing Places toilet needn’t cost the earth, whilst ensuring that our client has great quality equipment with proven in-service life.
